Here is a quick glimpse of how we made an impact in 2016:
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Humane Society of the Palm Beaches, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and does not receive funding from city, county, state, or the federal government, or local organizations with similar names. We rely solely on the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations to provide quality programs and services to the community. Your donations directly support the services and programs in place to help animals in need.
Barry Crown and his wife, Beverly, were true advocates and supporters of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League for many years. Multiple buildings and events, including our annual Walk for the Animals were renamed to reflect their generosity and passion for giving animals in need a second chance.
Barry Crown was a graduate of Yale University. He served on the Board of Directors of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. Crown also served on the boards of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the American Cancer Society of Palm Beach, the Florida Atlantic University Honors College, Roosevelt College and Columbia College.
Barry Crown was part of the Crown family of Chicago, whose legacy came from General Dynamics and other investments. Mrs. Crown established and assisted in running a number of corporations with her husband. This included Henderson Camping Products of Chicago, where she served as Vice President and Burton Dixie, which produced cushions and mattresses. With her husband, she founded LifeGuide Personal Fitness Center in Palm Beach Gardens. She was an avid sportswoman, instrument rated pilot, author and guest lecturer. Mrs. Crown was a champion bodybuilder and fitness competitor in her late 40's and 50's and appeared on the covers of a number of magazine's including “Muscle and Fitness.” She made a number of television appearances including several on the Oprah Winfrey show.
It is with great honor that each year we remember Barry and Beverly Crown through planning the annual Barry Crown Walk for the Animals. As a result of this exciting event, friends, family, schools, and companies come together to raise funds for animals in need as well as the many programs at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. Thus, the Crown tradition of caring continues.
